Gurney Van:
Gurney van patients are those
patients who are medically
required to lie down during
their transport. Specific
reasons for this can include a
history of quadriplegia, chronic
back pain or hemiparesis from a
stroke.
What separates the
gurney van patient from the
Basic Life Support patient is
that there is no medical
intervention, including
supervision, required for their
transport. All gurney van crews
are certified in both CPR and
First Aid.
Although our company requires
one of the crew members sit with
the patient, strictly speaking a
gurney van patient should be
able to be seat-belted onto a
gurney and require no form of
help or supervision during their
transport.
