The Chernobyl Children’s Project (CCP) was established in 1991, and has delivered over $70 million in direct and indirect humanitarian aid to the Chernobyl region. CCPI aims to restore hope to the people of the Chernobyl-affected region. The children of Chernobyl are suffering the hazardous aftermath of radiation and are seriously ill. Elena Whorton, President and founder of ProTransport-1 annually sponsors a child to come live with her family for a Recuperative Stay in addition to ProTransport-1’s continuous financial support for this important and lifesaving project.
ProTransport-1 continues to demonstrate its dedication to educating children by donating annually to the Sululagi M. Palega Jr. Scholarship. Palega’s father started the scholarship after his son’s tragic death, which was due to a case of mistaken identity as a gang member, in order to assist in educating disadvantaged children. ProTransport-1 chose to support this charity because the company was looking for a way to give back to the underprivileged of San Francisco in the form of educational endowments. The scholarship’s aims were inline with ProTransport-1’s goals to help at risk children secure quality education.
