ProTransport-1 was founded in
the year 2000 to provide
non-emergency medical
transportation services for
bed-confined patients who must
be transported via gurney.
For many years, bed-bound
individuals have been forced to
rely on fully staffed ambulances
for routine medical
transportation needs. While most
of these transports do require
some degree of medical care,
many do not need the extensive
skills and costly equipment of a
fully staffed ambulance.
Many patients, particularly
those requiring long-term care,
require transportation on a
regular basis for non-emergency
situations such as visits to a
facility for specialized
treatment or other routine
medical appointments.
These needs may be limited to a
monthly doctors check-up or as
many as six times a week for
dialysis to ten times a week for
radiation treatments. Most of
these patients do not need any
type of medical monitoring for
their trip.
Scheduled transports are
routinely late as they are often
given second priority to
emergency calls, causing
inconvenience in some cases and
in others, actual harm. Medical
appointments, including
radiation and dialysis
treatments, are scheduled based
on the physicians and/or
facilities availability.
Patients who do not arrive on
time may miss their appointments
or in the case of dialysis, may
have their treatment shortened.
The condition of the industry
when our company was formed was
such that many people perceived
ambulance companies as being
unresponsive to these routine
medical transport needs. Most
ambulance companies cannot
realistically commit to arrival
times due to their primary
function as emergency response
vehicles.
ProTransport-1 does not perform
emergency transports and
therefore is always able to
provide our patients with
professional, on time service at
the appropriate level of
service.
Patients who do not meet the
medical necessity requirements
for an ambulance are transported
by our company via gurney or
wheelchair vans, saving them
hundreds if not thousands of
dollars.
The range of services
ProTransport-1 offers has grown
to include Basic Life Support
and Critical Care Transport. As
we continue to grow, our mission
of providing quality patient
care at affordable prices will
remain our primary focus. |
